I feel that after my previous post, I ought to at least share my thoughts about McCain's speech. I'm kinda tired, so I'll keep it simple.
I liked it a lot more than Sarah Palin's. Much more respectful, much more inspiring. I usually think Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are dead-on with their analysis, but this time around, their charges of "McCain is boring" fell flat.
Suffice it to say I don't think it would be the end of the world if Senator McCain became the President. I just hope he doesn't keel over in office, because I'm not sure I could handle Palin in the Oval Office.
I guess that's all. Just wanted to prove that I'm not 100% biased. Ta-da!

But wait! There's more!

I wouldn't mind McCain, honestly, (he worries me in how he's recently been going back on past stances and agreeing more with Bush, but anyway...). But the idea of Palin in the white house scares the bejezus out of me.
ReplyDeleteYou're a bigger person than I. Although McCain probably would do an okay job as Prez, I can't bring myself to admit it. But then again, I'm strongly pro-choice (I strongly believe in my right to birth control), and I work in public education, so I've never been too keen on a party that wants to TAKS me (and my students) to death, while giving my funding away to private schools via "vouchers."
ReplyDeleteHowever, I think McCain's choice of Palin shows his poor judgement - or his ability to be easily influenced into a bad decision. Palin was obviously chosen "for looks" (no, I'm not referring to her being "America's Hottest Governor"...) She seemed like a good way to lure Hillarty supporters since she's a woman, her religious views would lure the evangalican right... but they didn't bother thinking about the rest of the package (the part that's blowing up in their face now). Again, McCain might not be that bad, but he's showing some pretty poor judgement.
